Cost: $50 per student by Sept. 9 (financial aid is available if needed).
$75 per student after Sept. 10 (and you won’t receive a t-shirt. Sad.)

What is the Kerygma?

The kerygma is the core message of the Gospel, the Good News that:

  1. We were created out of love by God for relationship with Him.

  2. Humanity broke this relationship and has been captured by sin.

  3. God rescued us by sending His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus’s death and resurrection restores our relationship with God.

  4. We are invited to make a response—to accept Jesus as Lord of our lives, to turn from sin, and to live in relationship with Him.

What to expect on Retreat?

This 3-day, 2-night retreat is an opportunity for young adults across our diocese to grow in faith and community together. Through prayer, talks, small groups, and outdoor adventures, we invite you to take a break from the busyness of everyday life to retreat, recharge, and re-center your life with Christ at the center of all things.

FAQ’s

What time are we leaving and getting back?

  • Plan to arrive at camp by 5pm on Friday so you can drop off your bags before Mass at 5:30pm. We will depart from camp at approximately 12 - 12:30pm on Sunday, after lunch and cleanup.

Why should I go?

  • Everyone’s “why” can look a little different. Some choose to go because they feel like something is missing in their life. Some just need a break and want to get away. Others are seeking the meaning of life and what God has planned for them. While others are interested in getting to know others with similar interests or many other options. All are good reasons to come and retreat to seek a deeper relationship with Jesus.

How much does it cost? 

  • The cost per person if you register before September 9th is $50. This includes a t-shirt, meals, housing, activities, coordinated carpool. The cost increases to $75 after September 9th, and you probably won’t get a t-shirt (we will have already submitted the order to the company by then).

Do you have to be Catholic to attend?

  • People of any faith are welcome to attend this retreat to explore their beliefs and meet new people! If you’re not Catholic, you’re welcome to participate in all aspects of the retreat (except receiving communion during Mass). Please contact one of our ministry leaders if you have specific questions about attending this event, or about faith in general.

I have a friend who isn’t from here… can they also join us?

  • Absolutely! Have them fill out the registration form as a “diocesan young adult” and complete the waivers mentioned above.

What should I pack?

  • A complete packing list will be emailed to all participants in the weeks before the retreat.

I have a dietary need… are you able to accommodate that?

  • Most common food allergies and dietary restrictions are able to be accommodated. We will reach out to you directly if we have any questions or if we’ll need you to help supplement the menu. (You are also welcome to bring your own allergen-friendly snacks- we can find a separate snack space in the lodge for you if needed.)

Can I bring snacks and drinks?

  • We will have a common snack table in the main gathering space (guys each bring something salty and girls each bring something sweet to share with the whole group). Please keep all snacks in the main lodge area, not in cabins, to avoid pest problems.

What are the sleeping arrangements?

  • There are 12 cabins on campus, each accommodating 15 guests per cabin. Men and women will be housed in separate cabins. Bath houses with showers and toilets are located near the cabins.

What’s the deal with transportation?

Can I drive separately? 

  • Yes, that’s fine!

Do I need to fill out any waivers?

  • Each participant is required to fill out waivers for the camp itself. USI students also have campus-specific forms. All waivers will be emailed to you as part of your registration receipt.
